Abstract

Since its inception, Islamic boarding schools have aimed to create a generation of people with knowledge and noble morals. Throughout its journey, Islamic boarding schools have produced many warriors and leaders. In the history of independence and post-independence of the Indonesian nation, both during the old order, the new order and the reform and post-reformation periods, Islamic boarding school alumni played a very important role. Therefore, real efforts are needed for the existence of Islamic boarding schools in this modern era. The existence of Islamic boarding schools is not to be underestimated, Islamic boarding schools are only a place to recite the Koran and do dhikr, to do good deeds or religious work only. On the other hand, Islamic boarding schools are used as a model of education in Indonesia. In the process of its development, Islamic boarding schools are still referred to as religious institutions that teach and develop Islamic religious knowledge. With all its dynamics, Islamic boarding schools are seen as institutions that are the center of changes in society through Islamic da'wah activities, as reflected in the various influences of Islamic boarding schools on individual change and development, to their influence on politics between their caregivers and the government.
